Values-driven Professional, Writer & Storyteller

I have been writing my whole life. As a child, my head (and my notebooks) were filled with fantasy stories, scripts of plays to perform with my friends, poems, and daily journal entries. Words have always been the avenue through which I authentically express myself and relate to the world around me. My love of writing only grew when I got older.

I studied journalism and history at Marquette University. I started as a beat reporter for the student newspaper in the fall of my freshman year, and went on to edit the investigative reporting pages and write a weekly column that kept the pulse of student life.

After graduating in 2013, I used the writing skills I honed in college to teach middle school language arts and creative writing in Brooklyn, NY. It was a unique thrill to witness young people falling in love with reading, writing, poetry, and literature just like I had at a young age.

When I decided to move back to my hometown of Kansas City, MO, I became involved in the non-profit community and worked on the development and audience teams for the local NPR station, KCUR. There I developed my skills as a copywriter, producing emails, event communications, newsletters, on-air promo spots, and more.

Kansas City is still my home - I live with my wife, our tabby cat Captain and our albino axolotl Lottie. I love to cook and bake; my dream is to write my own cookbook! When I’m not experimenting in the kitchen, you can usually find me walking around our local park, rock climbing with pals, teaching and performing Scottish Highland Dance, or finding a cozy spot in one of Kansas City’s many bakeries or coffee shops to read, write, or chat with friends.
